ABOUT: North’s Lookout is a less touristy location for sunsets but is spectacular with a broken cloudy sky. It provides a stunning view into the Megalong Valley with cliff walls on each side. The foreground is a deep gully called Nellie’s Glen – famous as being the steep descent start of the 40+km Six Foot Track from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves. It is a small 15m platform with steel railing as it is perched on the rocky cliff edge.

PHOTO EQUIPMENT TO BRING: Tripod, grad filters & moderate wide lenses, plus some telephotos for distant mountain views

GETTING TO THE SPOT/S: Park in the large car park just off Nellies Glen Road, see map link. Then follow the Six Foot Track signs for approx. 10-15 mins down a moderately steep incline. At the point you see the track veer sharp right to Nellies Glen steps, you will see a steel gate/barrier ahead. Go through this barrier & walk another 5 minutes to the lookout.
