Thank you Gary for a magnificent weekend. I learnt ALOT. But what was even better was to see the best of the Blue Mountains and the secret places tourists don’t often get to see. Your knowledge of local and indigenous history was so interesting and made the weekend complete. I couldn’t have asked for more. I attended the astrophotography in August. Gary is very passionate and knowledgeable and very patient, making sure we got some great photo opportunities despite the clouds coming in. I took the Autumn colours workshop in April, and it was the time when the colours started to peak for the season. Gary was so knowledgeable about the area around Blue mountains and he took us to different spots with wonderful colours. His camera, composition and post production knowledge is commendable and he kept the learning process smooth to make it much easier. He was kind enough to pick up and drop from the train station and also providing lunch/snacks to keep your energy up. We spent 2.5 days with Gary focusing on drone and ground photography of the spectacular pagodas and gorges in a number of areas north of Lithgow. Theres even a handout sheet to take with you describing the places we visited. I paid for my sister to attend an Autumn workshop for her birthday. Because of him, I got to shot some really interesting space structures and learnt how to post process them on my own afterwards! What I thought would be something impossible and hard to learn now made easy thanks to Gary!
After the workshop, Gary continued to help me and I ended up buying my own equipment and was able to do this really technical form of photography on my own. 🙂

The weather conditions were kind & Gary’s encyclopaedic knowledge of the best locations ensured we were at exactly the right spots at the right times of day for the best available light & colours. Predicting where & when to go is a lottery unless you have Gary’s local knowledge, built up over years of experience with our ever changing weather. I live in the Blue Mountains & thought I knew the best spots…little did I know.
Gary has a great photographer’s eye & a real knack for explaining what he sees & why it can make for a terrific photo. He also has great techniques for quick & captivating editing results.
We covered a lot of ground & skills in our full day, but the pace felt good, not rushed. Gary adjusted on the fly for our preferences for where we wanted to spend more time.
Our lunch was fantastic, with wide ranging discussions over hearty food.

This was by far the best organised photography tour that we have ever been involved in. Gary’s knowledge of the best areas that matched what we were looking for and his expertise were outstanding. I learnt heaps from him, enjoyed chatting about photography and nature and would highly recommend being a part of one of his workshops or an organised tour.

I have attended Gary’s, intro landscaping photograhpy workshop, and found it absolutly fabulous. Not only did it help me behind the lens but gave some insight into the ability of lightroom for processing photos. He also took us to areas off the usual tourist routes so we not only learnt alot about photography but also about the world heritage areas in the Blue Mountains. If you want to get into or get back into landscape photography, could not recommend this course more highly I’ve been on a few of Gary’s workshops, and I’ve always both enjoyed them and been able to take away some valuable new skills that have benefited my photography. Great sessions. We managed to really pack in a range of locations and activities, and I loved that you shared some of your processing workflow with me. Seeing the drone in action was an added bonus. Despite doing a ton of photography, I found the pace of the day quite relaxed and I never felt rushed. It was also a long day and I appreciate that you never seemed tired or less enthusiastic at any point. Despite the weather not co-operating at the end of the day and missing out on the sunset and astro opportunities, the day was really enjoyable and very worthwhile Gary’s Photgraphy workshops are great! Gary customised the day for us, and guided us safely to locations that were slightly off the tourist beaten track.
Gary was organised, very knowledgeable about the area and able to suggest a wide variety of locations. He was flexible and very helpful in helping us achieve our goals for the day. He has a wealth of technical knowledge about cameras, and image processing that he was happy to share with us, and was generous with his advice and shared images of the day.

I find the most beautiful photographs taken of a place tend to be those captured by the photographer who not only sees the colour and beauty of the landscape but is also able to feel it’s majesty and energy. I grew up in the mountains, came back to get married and regularly visit my parents in Blackheath. I haven’t discovered another photographer that captures my mountains. “The Event” proudly hangs on our wall in Central Queensland, a cooling reminder of the beauty of the backdrop to our wedding at George Phillips Lookout … our special event. The mountains are so special to me and you’re the only photographer who captures them as I see them. I really think these are the best pieces of work I have ever come across and as I was born in the Lithgow area and went to school there every time I see your work I really do miss the scenery as I don’t get to see it much any more and it makes me Home Sick!
