Alongside his high-tech and musical projects, Gary is a landscape photographer based in Mount Victoria, in the Blue Mountains. From his open studio and gallery near Pulpit Rock (opened in 2015), he runs a creative photography practice focused on three key areas: image licensing, workshops, and fine art print sales.

His work has appeared in Australian Geographic, tourism magazines, exhibitions, and on two Australian stamps ($5.35 and 70c). His framed prints are held in private collections and featured in hotels and resorts across the region. He also self-publishes books showcasing the Greater Blue Mountains.

Gary has been photographing since the early 1980s, with a focus on light, emotion, and natural landscapes. He has lived in the UK, USA, and Australia, and previously worked as a portrait, event, and street photographer. In the early 2000s, he was also a photojournalist for London tabloids, working alongside his BBC role.

His photography spans landscapes, travel, abstract, studio portraiture, virtual worlds, and live events. He has travelled widely through Central Asia, Europe, Japan, North Africa, Southeast Asia, the US, and beyond, but always returns to capture the beauty of NSW and the Blue Mountains—often at sunrise or sunset in lesser-known locations.

Gary’s gear includes a Sony A7r5 as primary camera with 7+ lenses, A6400, A7r2 as backups and various 360, drone and video cams. He occasionally hires medium-format panoramic film cameras for commissioned work. He began with medium and large-format film cameras in his teens, mastering chemical darkroom techniques before moving early into digital with the Canon 10D.

He now uses a 4×4 Landrover to access remote terrain and frequently hikes out after dark from sunset shoots. He prints in-house using a professional Epson 3880 and partners with local print labs for large-scale works up to 4m wide.
